Minister of Investment and External Trade Hassan al-Khattib stated Saturday that an initiative would be launched to install solar cells on the rooftops of buildings at Alexandria Free Zone housing 417 enterprises contributing to exports the most.

Masdar and Endesa Partner in Spain for €1.7 Billion Renewable Energy Project :
In a landmark move set to bolster renewable energy initiatives in Spain, Masdar, the UAE’s leading clean energy company, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Endesa S.A. to acquire a substantial stake in Spain’s renewable energy sector. This partnership involves Masdar investing €817 million for a 49.99% stake in a portfolio valued at €1.7 billion, marking it as one of the largest renewable energy deals in Spain to date. This acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions
Starbucks to anchor 40 MW of Nexamp community solar in Illinois :
Coffee giant Starbucks and community solar behemoth Nexamp are teaming up to install six new community solar projects in Illinois, a booming destination for such projects of late.
Starbucks will anchor a deployment of more than 40 MW of solar energy across the half dozen installations, providing electricity savings to more than 1,100 residents who subscribe within the ComEd and Ameren utility territories. Construction on the projects has already begun, and they will start coming online in 2025

Closed loop? Reused solar panels to power solar panel recycling facility :
SOLARCYCLE, a solar recycling company, has installed an on-site solar farm made of reused solar panels that will power its industrial solar panel recycling facility.
The reused panels come from decommissioned utility-scale solar farms and residential installations across the United States. SOLARCYCLE says the project serves as a model of how to power an industrial facility through renewable energy as the US ramps up domestic manufacturing capacity. It will also help to build a fully closed loop, ultra-low carbon solar industry in America.
Heliene and Premier Energies to open new U.S. solar cell manufacturing facility :
Heliene continues to make strides toward solidifying a solar supply chain in the United States.
On Thursday, the PV module provider announced a joint venture with Premier Energies, India’s second-largest solar cell manufacturing company, that will result in the opening of a solar cell manufacturing facility in Minnesota.
FERC approves PJM’s Order 2222 proposal :
After PJM filed its second compliance plan in September 2023, FERC approved and sided mostly with PJM in its July 25, 2024 decision. Even though FERC has a full bench of five Commissioners now, new Commissioners Judy Chang and Lindsay See did not participate in this decision for some reason. Thousands of Texans kept the lights on through Beryl via Sunnova solar + storage systems :
While hundreds of thousands of Texans waited for their power to come back on post-Hurricane Beryl, a bevy of Sunnova customers were generating energy.
Sunnova Energy International announced today that it powered the homes of nearly 3,000 customers in the Houston area during and after Hurricane Beryl. From July 8-15, while the local utility grids were knocked out and unable to deliver power to Texans, Sunnova solar + storage customers generated 485,249 kWh of energy.
UAE's Masdar Spanish solar farm deal heralds more European investments :
United Arab Emirates' renewable energy company Masdar is seeking more opportunities in Europe green energy sector and will consider both minority investments and controlling stakes, its CFO said, following a deal last week with Spain’s Endesa.
