Wisconsin auto dealer invests in 469-kW rooftop solar portfolio :

Holiday Automotive partnered with Plymouth-based Arch Solar C&I to install the solar arrays. Holiday Automotive’s project has double the impact of a typical system. The Holiday Ford facility is outfitted with a 460-panel array, while the Holiday Collision and Glass Center boasts an additional 396 panels. Overall, the 469-kilowatt system is estimated to offset over 50% of the power usage of both buildings.

NARDAC increases natural catastrophe coverage for C&I solar projects:

The C&I solar market has grown year over year, notably in the U.S. where installations that supply the grid are backed by federal incentives. But as storms have increased in intensity and severity across the Southern and Eastern U.S., solar projects have borne the brunt of the damage, and some installations have seen a total insurance loss. This has led to an overall retrenching of insurance capacity, and increased pricing for premiums available in the market.

Grenada seeking bids for 15.1 MW of airport solar:

Grenada’s Public Utilities Regulatory Commission is seeking expressions of interest for 15.1 MW of solar at Maurice Bishop International Airport. The project may also include a 10.6 MW/21.2 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The deadline for submissions is Sept. 20.

Maximizing solar efficiency through bifacial tracking systems:

The solar energy industry continues to innovate, striving to improve the efficiency and reliability of photovoltaic systems. One of the most promising advancements is the development of bifacial modules combined with tracking systems.

Easter Island launches 3 MW/2 MWh solar-plus-storage tender:

The project will reduce the island's dependence on diesel generators, which currently cover around 99% of its electricity demand. Interested developers have until Sept. 22 to submit proposals.

Japan’s Toyo Solar announces 2 GW panel factory in US :

The company said it plans to raise $100 million to support the factory. It expects a 70% return-on-investment in year one of full-scale production, based on US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) incentives and expected profits. The IRA offers $12 per square meter of solar wafers, $0.04/W for solar cells, and $0.07/W for solar modules.

CEA-INES, Enel achieve 29.8% efficiency for tandem perovskite-silicon solar cell:

Researchers at France's National Solar Energy Institute (INES) – a division of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) – and Italian renewables specialist Enel Green Power claim to have achieved a power conversion efficiency of 29.8% for a two-terminal tandem perovskite-silicon solar cell.
