Most solar investments flowing to developed countries and China :


While the deployment of solar energy for electricity generation has been happening at an ever increasing rate, most of the investments are still flowing in to the developed countries, China and large developing nations like India. But head of International Solar Alliance Ajay Mathur (ISA) says that the last few years of ground work in the low-income countries, particularly in Africa, would begin yielding fruits soon.

Spanish companies to collaborate on 49 MW of solar in Portugal:


BNZ, a Barcelona-based independent power producer (IPP), has announced a 49 MW solar project in northern Portugal in partnership with GRS, a Madrid-based solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.



 

US authorities detain solar modules imported from Mexico :


Module manufacturer Maxeon says that US Customs and Border Protection officials have detained all of its panel imports from Mexico since July as the federal law enforcement agency investigates their compliance with the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA).


 

Timber framed solar carports for residential, commercial applications :


Sweden-based Innoventum has launched a solar carport line equipped with bifacial modules in a larch wood structure. The solution may include electric vehicle charging, energy storage, LED lighting, and inverter systems.



 

Argentina raises self-consumption limit under net metering to 12 MW :


Eduardo Javier Rodriguez Chirillo, Argentina's secretary of energy, has signed Resolution No. 235/24. The new resolution raises the maximum size limit for self-consumption projects under net metering from 2 MW to 12 MW.


 

JinkoSolar on Smooth Track to 28% Efficiency TOPCon Tech :


It includes but is not limited to front-side passivation, edge passivation, optimized metallization and screen print, light trap technology to lock more sunlight drawn on the cell, etc. The PV giant also said it will mass produce 26.5% efficiency TOPCon in H2. Looking ahead, JinkoSolar also confirmed its plans to begin mass production of 27% efficiency cells by 2025.

Rocky Mountain Power is paying solar customers more incentives if they add storage later :


ES Solar has already sold 18 MWh of sonnen retrofit energy storage systems via the Go Back initiative within the greater Wattsmart Program in Utah. The company estimates that more than 75% of its 2024 sales are via the Go Back Program, resulting in upwards of 500 sonnen battery installations in Utah each month.

TotalEnergies and RGE Secure Conditional Approval for Solar Energy Import to Singapore :


TotalEnergies and RGE, through their joint venture Singa Renewables Pte Ltd, have received Conditional Approval from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) to import 1.0 gigawatt (GW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy from Indonesia to Singapore. The announcement was made by Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Tan See Leng, during the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2024.
