Philippines may terminate 50-plus solar projects for missing deadlines :


The Philippines’ Department of Energy says that at least 105 renewable energy projects, including 53 solar projects, face termination for failing to comply with timelines. At least 53 solar projects could be terminated in the Philippines over non-compliance with project timelines, according to the country’s Department of Energy (DOE).


 

Tajikistan accepting bids to develop 200 MW of solar :


Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources is conducting a tender for the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of a 200 MW solar plant in western Tajikistan. The application deadline is Nov. 12, 2024.


 

Work begins on 200 MW solar park in Congo :


India’s Soleos Energy, in partnership with Melci Holdings, has started building a 200 MW solar park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The project is set for commissioning by late 2026.


 

Tunisia launches 200 MW solar tender :


The selected independent power producers (IPPs) will sell electricity to Société tunisienne de l’électricité et du gaz (STEG), the Tunisian state-owned grid operator, under long-term power purchase agreements. Interested developers have until Jan. 15 to submit their project proposals.


 

First attempt to build solar cells based on gallium phosphide, titanium :


After conducting theoretical studies on gallium phosphide, titanium solar cells for years, a group of Spanish researchers has now sought to build the first intermediate band device based on this material combination and has found it can achieve enhanced external quantum efficiency at wavelengths above 550 nm.
