NOVA Infrastructure, a middle-market infrastructure investment firm, has completed the purchase of UGE International Ltd., a community solar and battery storage business. On May 28, 2024, NOVA agreed to acquire approximately 70% of the common shares of UGE, a publicly traded entity listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. The transaction successfully received securityholder and regulatory approval.

Global solar module prices fall amid weak demand :
In a new weekly update for pv magazine, OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides a quick look at the main price trends in the global PV industry. In the Chinese market, the majority of module sellers OPIS surveyed said the TOP Con FOB China market was quiet and prices were stable although there were some buyers out in the market talking down prices. Market talks of TOP Con prices below $0.09/W FOB China were circulating in the market, with one buyer pointing out that there were offers of Grade A TOP Con cargoes with a power output of 580-585 W of cargo sizes above 10 MW being offered at $0.081-0.086/W. However, sellers OPIS surveyed said there were no transactions at this level.
Germany records 1.4 GW of new solar in July :
Germany installed 1.4 GW of new solar capacity in July, bringing its cumulative total to 92.23 GW.Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has reported that 1,404.5 MW of new PV systems were installed in July. The nation added 1.3 GW in June 2024 and around 1.2 GW in July 2023.
Brazil’s electricity access program needs 1.5 million solar modules :
New research shows that achieving universal electricity access in the Amazon region will require up to 15 million PV modules and more than $7.4 billion in investments. Brazil's Instituto de Energia e Meio Ambiente (IEMA) has assessed the PV sector's capacity to meet demand for universal electricity access through the Luz para Todos (LpT) program. The study examines the services provided to isolated communities and systems in the Amazon.

Italy adds 3.34 GW of new solar in H1 :
Italy installed 3.34 GW of new solar in the first six months of 2024, bringing its total PV capacity to 33.62 GW by the end of June. Italy installed around 3.34 GW of new PV capacity in the first six months of 2024, according to a new report by Italian PV association Italia Solare.
Heliene to procure US-made solar wafers from NorSun :
Heliene has secured a deal to procure US-made solar wafers from NorSun, sourced from its upcoming 5 GW factory in Tulsa, Oklahoma. NorSun, a Norway-based solar wafer manufacturer, has signed a multi-year contract with Heliene, a solar module maker. The exact amount of wafers was not specified, but Heliene reported that the supply will meet its annual requirement of silicon wafers starting in 2026.

Philippines fast-tracks world’s largest solar park with green lane certificate :
