Steep Generation Duty HIke Casts Shadow Over Kerala’s Rooftop Solar Program
The State has Shifted the solar settlement period to April-March.The recent hike in electricity generation duty from 0.012(~$0.00014)/kWh to 0.15(~$0.0018)/kWh for rooftop solar systems in Kerala is threatening to disrupt the pace of renewable energy adoption in the state. The state excepts an additional annual revenue of 240 million(~$2.87 million) from the increased duty.
Clean energy investment Nears $2 Trillion in 2024 But Disparities Remail :
Investment in solar alone is expected to surpass $500 billion in 2024.
Global energy investment in 2024 is projected to exceed $3 trillion, with $2 trillion dedicated to clean energy technologies and infrastructure, according to the latest world Energy investment 2024 report by the international Energy Agency(IEA).
This reflects a surge in clean energy investment since 2020,driven by advancements in renewable power, grids, and storage.the current trends in clean energy spending exceed those for oil,gas and coal.
40 years later, photovoltaics lights up half of Spain:
Photovoltaic solar has become the second technology with the most megawatts installed and led electricity generation in May for the first time.
In 1984, 40 years ago, a space technology, used since 1958 outside of Earth, was established in Spain. Iberdrola then launched the first photovoltaic plant connected to the grid in San Agustín de Guadalix, with 100 kilowatts of power. It was a pilot project at the time, with an investment of 462 million pesetas, about 250,000 euros today. The solar expansion was not entirely meteoric and for almost a decade, the San Agustín de Guadalix photovoltaic plant remained the only one on the Peninsula.
