Meeting 2030 renewable energy target may push India's solar equipment imports to $30 bn/yr, says GTRI :


The country's target of installing 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 may push solar equipment import bill to about USD 30 billion per year and increase dependence on Chinese goods, think tank GTRI said in a report on Sunday. It said developing a self-reliant solar manufacturing industry in India will require significant investment to create an integrated supply chain, especially in areas like polysilicon and wafer production.


 

India’s Solar Panel Import Bill Could Hit $30 Billion :


India could end up paying $30 billion annually for imported solar panels if it is to hit its 2030 capacity target of 500 GW in wind and solar.The forecast comes from a local think tank, the Global Trade Research Initiative, which said such a path would deepen the dependence of the country on its neighbor China, the Business Standard reported.


 

Brookfield Properties to supply green power to office campuses in Delhi-NCR :


Brookfield Properties will source renewable power from solar project at Bikaner in Rajasthan for supplying green energy at four office campuses across Delhi-NCR.

In a statement on Monday, Brookfield Properties said it has "secured renewable power from Brookfield's Bikaner Solar Power Project in the first partnership in India under the Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) bilateral arrangement.

To meet the government's target of installing 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, India needs to significantly ramp up installations to 65-70 GW each year, with over 80 per cent of this target expected to come from solar power, according to the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI).


 

ACME to supply power from 150 MW hybrid solar project to SECI :


ACME Solar Holdings has entered into a power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of hybrid solar power. ACME will supply 150 MW hybrid solar power to SECI. The company has formed ACME Platinum Urja Private Limited, a project-specific special-purpose vehicle (SPV) for this project.


 

SAEL, Rays, Refex, ReNew and Mahindra win NTPC’s 1.2 GW ISTS solar auction :


SEAL, Rays Power, and Refex Green secured a capacity of 300 MW, 100 MW, and 100 MW, respectively. They all had the same tariff of Rs 2.50 per kWh. On the other hand, ReNew Solar and Illuminate Hybren were awarded 300 MW and 176 MW at a tariff of Rs 2.51 per kWh. The tender was issued in June 2024. NTPC has allocated only 976 MW as of now.


 

MNRE approves three pilot projects to use hydrogen in steel production :


Financial support amounting to Rs 3.47 billion will be provided to the pilot projects by the government. The projects are expected to be commissioned in the next three years. These are the first projects approved under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

 

Oriana Power Secures 75 MW Solar Power Project At Maharashtra :


Uttar Pradesh-based Oriana Power secured an order to develop 75 MW solar power plant from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) at Maharashtra.MSEDCL seeks to implement feeder level solarisation under Component C of PM-KUSUM Scheme with land and transmission line.

 

NTPC REL Floats Tender for 600 MW Solar Project in Maharashtra :


The last date to submit bids is November 20, 2024NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has invited bids for the land and development package for a 600 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar project in Dhule, Maharashtra.


 

MNRE Plans to Increase Rooftop Solar Vendors to 25,000 :
