SAEL, NTPC, BluPine Win SECI’s 1.2 GW Solar Auction:


SAEL Industries  NTPC Renewable Energy  BluPine Energy were winners in Solar Energy Corporation of India’s () auction to set up 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects across India under Tranche XVI on a build, own, and operate basis.



 

Solar Power Generation Hits 36 BU in Q2 2024, a 17.6% YoY Increase:


Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka led the solar power generation in the quarter.In the second quarter (Q2) of the calendar year 2024, India scaled a new high with solar power generation reaching 36 billion units (BU), a 17.6% increase year-over-year (YoY).



 

India adds 1.7 GW solar power capacity in July:


India added 1,733.7 MW of solar power capacity in July, taking the cumulative installed capacity to 87.2 GW at the end of the month, according to the ministry of new and renewable energy. In FY25 till July, the addition in solar power capacity was 5,394 MW.



 


The state has approximately 23 GW of installed solar capacity Rajasthan has become the first state in India to achieve more than 50% solar in its total installed power capacity, according to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker 

The state has approximately 23 GW of solar capacity, representing 51% of its total installed power capacity. Solar energy also dominates Rajasthan’s renewable portfolio, accounting for 76% of its total installed renewable energy capacity.



 


The West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) has invited bids for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar project at the Sagardighi thermal power project. The last date to submit the bids is September 6, 2024. Bids will be opened on September 10.



 

Matrix Renewables Secures Financing for 240 MW Solar Projects:


CleanCapital acquires 13 MW solar projects Matrix Renewables, a global renewable energy company, signed  a €50 million (~$54.74 million) green loan with the European Investment Bank  to support the development and construction of five solar projects in Spain. With a total installed capacity of 240 MW, the projects are located in Castilla y Leon and Extremadura. The projects are expected to reach commercial operations by the end of 2025.



 

India May Add 30 GW Of Renewable Capacities In 2024-25:


India seems to be racing towards achieving a record-breaking renewable capacity addition number in 2024-25. The rise in pace of solar and wind energy installations in the first seven months of calendar year 2024 indicates every probability of record capacity additions. This will follow a strong show in 2023, when 18.5 GW of renewable energy was added to the grid.



 

India to add 6-GW renewable energy storage by FY28: CRISIL


India’s renewable energy (RE) storage capacity is expected to surge 6 GW by FY28 from less than 1 GW operational as of March 2024, driven by a robust pipeline of projects under implementation and expected healthy pace of auctions, according to research agency CRISIL  .
